Welcome to Stepping Stones Therapy Center.

Q: Who would benefit from going to Stepping Stones Therapy Center?
A: If your child is receiving therapy services either privately or in a school system, and you would like additional services to supplement what he is receiving, then your child will benefit from coming to SSTC. If on the other hand you are concerned with your child’s development in the areas of speech and language, fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional, or academic, and are not receiving services, you should explore the programs at SSTC. The staff can then assist you in deciding if additional services are recommended.
Q: How is Stepping Stones Therapy Different from School Based or Clinic Based Services?
A: SSTC is a place where your child will have a chance to practice and reinforce a wide range of skills within a community, play based, group setting. The therapies are integrated throughout each session to allow a child to practice and generalize these skills in different activities and with different children. The two hour sessions also allow a child to fully digest these skills.
Q: How do you group the children?
A: We place children in groups that are therapeutic, taking into account their ages and specific goals. We may rotate the children after every 30 minute session if necessary.
Q: Can you sign up for different times and days?
A: Yes during the summer program the sessions are very flexible. You can sign up for sessions on different days and at different times. During the school year, the sessions will run for a two month period at a consistent time and day.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: Not at this time. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out your out of network policy. Some companies have reimbursed up to 75% for our services. We will assist you in submitting the necessary paper work.
Q: Do you do an evaluation prior to starting a session?
A: A complete global assessment based on a checklist will be given during the school year.
Q: What is the staff/child ratio?
A: Our groups will generally be four students to one adult. Assistants will be available for children who need additional help.
Q: How is the wellness model integrated into the sessions?
A: Our activities are specifically designed to address each aspect of our wellness model. By the completion of the session, the child will have worked within the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, occupational, environmental, and spiritual realms of the wellness model, educating the “whole child”.
Q: How will the therapists work together?
A: The therapists will collaborate before and after every session to share treatment plans, a child’s specific goals, and suggestions for follow-through within the sessions. They may work together within small groups.
Q: What types of professionals work at Stepping Stones?
A: At Stepping Stones Therapy Center you can expect a wide range of experienced and certified professionals, including teachers certified in special needs, physical, occupational and speech therapists, certified sign language teachers, psychologists, social workers, and many more.
Q: Are activities offered for siblings?

A: Yes, SSTC will offer activities for siblings and family members as well as Parent and Sibling Support Groups.

If you have specific questions about your child and the SSTC program, an experienced therapist can discuss your concerns and assist you in deciding if this is an appropriate place for him to come. We also welcome you to visit SSTC. We offer tours of the center where you will have an opportunity to observe the sessions and meet with the staff to discuss any further questions you have about the services that are offered.
